The gnomes of Zilargo knew that a teleport from Sharn had happened at
almost the exact same time the mournbomb went off but that no one had
come out as expected. Afraid that the teleport had possibly brought in a
monster from the mourning or turned the room into a "mini-mournland"
they decided to completely seal off the room.
Each time the door heated up the gnomes were actually welding a large
piece of metal to the outside of it to further seal it in.
Blade doesn't actually know that the 2nd mourning happened since he
teleported away before it happened. This is why he got confused when the
interviewer asked him about it.
